16-Year-Old Indicted on Murder Charge

A 16 year-old from Youngstown will be tried as an adult after being indicted Thursday on aggravated murder charges.
Deandre McCrary is one of two teenagers charged in the June shooting death and robbery of 16-year-old Brandon Adkins, a Chaney High School student.
The incident happened following what police said had been a fistfight on the city's South Side.
If convicted, McCrary could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Cops Arrest Standoff Suspect at East Dewey Home

Youngstown police and task force members have arrested the suspect in today's standoff on the city's South Side.

The man was taken into custody after the standoff that began just after 3 p.m. at a home on East Dewey Avenue.

Police called in a negotiator and used bull horns to speak to the man, who was in the basement. He came out of the home just after 4 p.m.

Three warrants were issued today for the arrest of Dennis Ray, 50, who police thought was holed up in a Browning Avenue home Wednesday after he was seen shooting indiscriminately in his neighborhood. Youngstown police and local task force units surrounded the home looking for Ray, and after nearly four hours, entered the home and found that he had escaped.

They had been searching for him since, describing him as armed and dangerous.

Ray is charged with inducing panic, discharging a weapon in city limits and possession of a dangerous ordinance, which was a sawed off shotgun.
