did police chief foley come to the parade because he wanted to participate as a patriotic public servant? or he wanted to make himself look good in frt of ytown residents due to his position is might change from appt to elected position in which he or she must live in ytown instead of another city?

Our Councilman - John R. Swierz - was not present because of a previous family commitment which took him out of town.  John R. notified Number 9 Fire Station a few weeks in advance and did a follow up call that day.  He also requested the police escort - which by the way had nothing to do with the permit - and asked Chief Foley to 'make an appearance' if possible - which Chief Foley did - Thanks Chief we were honored.  Councilman Swierz works full time plus for our 7th Ward and I think he deserves some well earned family time.
First - I was very late in getting the invitations sent
This was also the first time in several years that I did not invite the other members of council.  My reasoning was this - we don't vote for them and none really ever came when I did send them invitations.  It was a public parade - if I could I would have gone to the "Gay Parade" and certainly did not receive an invitation to it.  I also wanted to go to the Struthers Parade and received no invitation - catch my drift   However I did take invitations to the Youngstown City School Board and put the names of the board members on invitations for the secretary to put in their respective boxes.  We do vote for them and they should know where Adams School is and also where Lansingville is within the City of Youngstown and there are a lot of kids at a parade  ;D  The President of Council and the Mayor were invited - I hand delivered the invitations to their offices.
Both the Democratic and Republican Headquarters were notified as well as Congressman Tim Ryan's Office.  I also invited the County commissioners.  It was my fault that these were delivered less than a week before the parade  :'(  So some blame should fall on me  :'(
This was also the first year I did not get a chance to invite The Sheriff or the Fire Chief - I was just running way too late. :'(  Sheriff Wellington ALWAYS came and one year he brought about 25 motorcycles - we held up the parade for about half an hour so they could come from the Campbell Parade  :o  Just think Lansingville right up there with "City" honors ::) and privileges
THANKS AGAIN ! ! ! AND YET AGAIN ! ! ! FOR ALL YOUR TERFFIC EFFORTS ! ! !  GOD BLESS ! ! !

It's was probably better that the councilmen weren't there.  They missed all of the discussion about recalling some of them.

Kenny Joe, thank you for another super job in organizing the Lansingville Parade this year!

It's great to see individuals such as yourself who continue to take pride in your neighborhood!

Congrats for organizing the only Independence Day parade in the city of Youngstown!

Sad that your city councilman, nor any councilperson, nor the mayor, chose to attend...

KennyJoe, the firefighters at Station 9 mentioned after the parade last year that they didn't know about the parade till someone mentioned it that morning. Please take a few minutes to call the Chief's office at 330-747-7403 between 8 and 4pm and give them the parade info so that they can schedule the event and the crews working will know about it and bring a truck or two.

If i am still Commander next year (and there doesn't seem to be anyone stepping up) I'll see what we can do. This year of course I'm barely getting around but I think I can walk a block for the car show.

We'll see if we can't work it in for next year, depending on the date.........

From the very bottom of my heart I would really really LOVE that Sfc_Oliver - - - I have tryed over the years to even get Boy Scouts - it seems for one reason after another we don't have one.  Watch out next year we will have a dozen  ::)    One year we did have one from the Naval Reserves - I liked it because I was in the Navy and we are so far inland that you hardly see someone in a Navy uniform.  Please say something next year  :)  THANKS again for the thought.

One of these years I'll have to see if my Legion Color Guard can lead that parade. But this year is impossible. Though we will be opening the Lowellville car show on the 2nd...

YES on the Cotton Candy - unless it rains  :'(  --- ;D    As far as the Candy Apple goes it would be like the Chili on the dog - it would be BYOCA and BYOC respectfully or BYOwhatever - but like my Mon use to say bring enough to share     but if you have the proper covering (brown paper bag) and do it quietly on the side and don't get CAUGHT then who would know  :-X  -  i can't believe i just wrote THAT ! ! !  :o   You better believe I will be looking for people with brown paper bags - just so you know  ;)  and it wouldn't take much to  :-X  - This also goes for the Kolbussi People toooooo  :-*
