Governor Strickland is in huge trouble when it comes to winning his seat again in 2010. The GOP has a huge opportunity to win this seat back from the Democrats in 2010. Poll is out from a Democratic Pollster known as Public Policy Polling.

Strickland: 44%
Kasich: 42%

I just wrote on this very race on Friday here: http://mvred.com/2009/06/19/the-gop-comeback-in-ohio/

My bet is Kasich is actually leading right now: If I were Kasich, I would be very relieved that Strickland is at 44%, when 50% of those polled were Democrats. Now Democrats surely aren't 50% of Ohio's registered voters, but even giving him that, he only gets 44% of the vote. -Dems have a 39-31% edge in party id- Any incumbent polling under 50% is in the danger zone. It is early, but Ohio's economy is likely not going to get much better by fall 2010, which is bad news for Strickland.
