Green Energy For All Goals for 2009

From green For All...

To meet the need, Green For All is gearing up for a series of powerful initiatives in 2009.
·   Clean Energy Corps: Working with friends and allies, we will propose a new federal program: a Clean Energy Corps for America. This $30 billion initiative would put 600,000 people to work retrofitting millions of buildings, so that the structures waste less energy. Paid for by an innovative revolving loan fund, the program would capture subsequent savings in energy costs and essentially pay for itself.
·   Green Jobs Act: Additionally, we are seeking full funding of the Green Jobs Act. Authorized in 2007, this federal program will pay for 30,000 people a year to get training in green trades - like solar panel installation and home weatherization.
·   Green-Collar Cities: At the local level, our Green-Collar Cities program will help elected officials and grassroots activists create green-collar jobs in numerous cities, including Seattle, Atlanta and Newark.
·   Green For All Academy: In partnership with Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection, our Green For All Academy will be training hundreds of grassroots advocates (most from disadvantaged communities) for a green-collar economy.
Not everyone wants change. The champions of the "high-carbon" status quo will use economic fear mongering to derail progress once more - just as they torpedoed the climate bill last summer.

We cannot afford to let that happen again. Real change is possible - but only with the engagement of a fully-informed public.

Our agenda in 2009 represents healing for the Earth, opportunity for the disadvantaged and a tonic for the entire U.S. economy.
