Ohio State tuition hike likely, Gee says

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State University likely will raise tuition for the fall to offset anticipated cuts in state aid, President E. Gordon Gee told The Dispatch yesterday. Ohio State also increased tuition this school year.

Gee has been hinting about the likelihood of a price hike for several months as Gov. John Kasich works on a state budget that will need to make up a two-year shortfall estimated at $8 billion.

But Gee said no decision will be made until Kasich releases his budget recommendations for the next two years, which are due March 15. Ohio State trustees likely would not vote on tuition until May, when the state and university budget pictures are clearer.
