Title: Traficant's Problem
Post by: jay on July 06, 2010, 04:24:02 PM
It's being reported that Jim Traficant may not be on the fall ballot because he does not have enough valid signatures to qualify as an independent candidate.

This is a problem faced by all independent candidates.  An independent candidate has to collect an excessive amount of signatures to make the ballot.  Candidates of the the two major parties need relatively few signatures.

Democrats and Republicans needed 50 signatures to run for Congress, Jimbo needed 2,199 signatures as an Independent......

This is fair? Just goes to show you how the major parties control elections and government.....
