In his defense...the owner or trainer of the horse may have only wanted the horse to run for exercise and not be stressed due to an injury.

If I was that jockey the first thing I'd do IF I got to saddle up again would be to find an owner willing to name his horse Charley Hustle and race in a grey uniform with a red helmet and sox.
