Ron:

The Vindicator's track record is at best, bleak.

In the two years before the Sheet and Tube shut down, the handwriting was on the wall, yet the reporter that covered the industrial beat was blind to all the signs right up to the day of the fatal press conference, and only after that fateful day did the paper start taking it seriously.

Move forward:

When all the out of town snake oil salesmen started rolling into town to with grand schemes, the Vindicator gave each and every one of them page one coverage with nary a negative comment ... the blimp factory ... the aircraft company ... two different breweries ... Avanti ... the Ecumenical Coalition ... and others, none questioned ... no looking into the track record of the snake oil salesmen ... just hype meant to sell papers.

This time they are playing it safe ... good one day ... bad the next ... pro one day ... con the next ... dancing the waltz when the band is playing a polka ... then dancing a fox trot when the band is playing a minuet

How can anyone take a newspaper with this kind of track record seriously?

Can you say $1.5 Billion dollars invested in the Mahoning Valley with the bulk of it coming to Youngstown? What does that tell you? $100,000,000,000.00 just from one company with about $25,000,000.00 by another ... in Youngstown. Granted they are not producing thousands of new jobs, BUT, their investment is drawing the interest of still other companies to locate here, bring with them more CASH and more JOBS. HIGH PAYING JOBS. What does that mean?

Well for the Vindicator and WFMJ that could mean more advertizing revinue as local stores vie for the sales that would be generated by the folks employed in those new high paying jobs. But does Mark Brown see it that way? Obviously not

TT,
I love how our Vindy and several Lib rags now are doing everything to downplay this energy development.  It is laughable how they twist all info. to disquiet the truth. And the truth is, they are only at the beginning of this play.  Also, follow the billions ($4Billion) already sunk into eastern Ohio.  No, this play is big and some are jealous because they are not a part of the bonnaza.

Economics, technology drive Utica Shale decisions

This by no means puts Youngstown out of the picture, it just means that our future rests with manufacturing for the gas and oil industry as witnessed by the BILLION plus dollars that have already been invested here.
