This site is correct in making and enforcing rules of civility. It would be much worse without it.

The Vindicator's forum is just another embarrassment to our valley. A good amount of it's problems would disapear just by requiring people to register. It's obvious that it's not required when you see "user names" that look more like individual post titles/ subjects.

I couldn't agree more, and that is why both my web site and Blog disallow comments. After examining other Blogs that deal with the news, I felt that this was the best move.

The moderators of this site deserve a huge pat on the back for keeping this site free of problem posters.

we one insults one behind a fake name on any discussion board shows their cowardness in facing one to face to face. majority of those people aren't well receive in the ytown community anyway. my opinion is just ignore their comments and move on to another topic.

Thank you so much for your reminder - I think the Yo. Vindicator should be ashamed for sponsoring their open forum.  People post pornography, ignorant comments, insults to children and school sports teams.  What must people who don't live in this area think of a local newspaper that would allow people to post these things?  I know of no other respectable newspaper that would allow it.  Everyone should have a right to express their opinion, but to allow a message board to go unmonitored and allow anyone to post the things that they do their is outrageous.

A member has asked me to address decorum regarding political posts.

First, please note we have a new forum devoted just to politics.  I have moved recent relevant topics to this forum

Political debate is welcomed and encouraged.
Please  keep it civil.

Name calling is inappropriate.

This community  forum is meant to be family friendly.
The forum software automatically filters language and replaces it with other more acceptable words.

Please watch your language.

There are plenty of other local forums online where name calling and foul language are abundant.

I'd like to think that we are above all of that.

As always thank you for using the Mahoning Valley BBS.

Have a good day!
