COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio's attorney general has approved language summarizing a proposed ballot measure to exempt the state from President Barack Obama's health-care overhaul.

A tea party group called the Ohio Liberty Council wants voters to amend the state Constitution so Ohio won't take part in the new and sweeping federal law.

Attorney General Richard Cordray said Thursday that a summary of the issue offered for the November ballot is a "fair and truthful" reflection of the amendment.

Ohio health care and anti-poverty advocates had argued that the language understated the amendment's impact and urged Cordray to reject the language.

The Ohio Ballot Board must still sign off on the proposed issue before its supporters can begin gathering petition signatures.

If Brunner approves it and they get the signatures, this thing will move to the November ballot where I think it will pass easily. The latest poll in Ohio conducted by Rasmussen, that has Kasich up just 1 on Strickland, has three health care questions:

Will the health care plan passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama be good for the country or bad for the country?
Good 41%
Bad 52%

A proposal has been made to repeal the health care bill and stop it from going into effect. Do you strongly favor, somewhat favor, somewhat oppose or strongly oppose a proposal to repeal the health care bill?
Strongly favor 48%
Somewhat favor 7%
Somewhat oppose 7%
Strongly oppose 33%

The health care plan passed by Congress would require every American to buy or obtain health insurance. Do you Strongly Favor, Somewhat Favor, Somewhat Oppose, or Strongly Oppose a federal law that requires every American to buy or obtain health insurance?
Strongly favor 25%
Somewhat favor 18%
Somewhat oppose 10%
Strongly oppose 44%
