Even if they succeed with the new word "furlough" instead of lay off, I predict Youngstown, and other cities, will be buying drones to fly around and give out as many new camera tickets as possible for anything from murder to just breathing the city's air. I also see income tax jumping to 4.0% for any private sector employees and maybe even add some income tax to those on welfare while doing their best to reduce the taxes paid by the remaining government employees.

It was announced this week that the City of Youngstown administration wants to furlough 72 employees.

They can just float the general fund with the water money, it seems they aren't concerned about the State of Ohio's opinion on the matter. What ever happened to the SUV the Mayor bought? That seemed to go away awfully quietly.

There have been several stories in the news recently about the City of Youngstown's lack of finances to run the city properly.

As the coronavirus takes a grip in Ohio cities, fewer people will shop, dine out and attend concerts.  Economic activity will slow to the point were local businesses will reduce hours of operation and workers will be laid off.  Laid off workers will no longer be paying income taxes to the city.

A bad situation will only get worse.
