On a number of occassions folks have brought vintage guitars to the Antiques Roadshow  for appraisal and the appraisers valued them in the thousands of dollars. Its really amazing at just how valuable they can be.

Here are two examples:

Martin Guitars

$13,000.00 to $16,000.00

Gibson Guitars

$10,000.00

Although the proprietor likes pre-war guitars, those are only a small part of his inventory.  He also has some electrics.  In the future he will carry guitar strings and other accessories.

The publicity on this Forum already got him two customers.

I thought the name "Hootenanny" was a strange choice, but it makes more sense now that I see they deal in Pre-War, Vintage Acoustic Guitars.

What I'm not sure about is the demand for Pre-War, Vintage Acoustic Guitars.

I may be wrong but if you're selling antiques, I would think you wouldn't want to narrow it down to such a specific type of antique. Similarly, if you're selling old guitars, I don't think you'd want to leave out the old Les Pauls, Fenders, Gibsons and such (electric!).

Even if I don't understand it, I wish them luck with their new venture.
