Question About Possible Recent Homicides

This is a great question I was wondering just the other day. I have no actual answer but I think it should be added to the statistics of the year they became victims regardless of the year they actually died or were found.

So far this January, a woman's body was found in a trash can and a man's body was found in a home on Dewey Avenue.  Both of the deceased were reported missing in 2018.

Question
If these deaths were homicides, will they be recorded for the 2018 or 2019 statistics?
