Saw a very interesting program on 45/49 last night that made me feel really proud of Youngstown.

The program centered around local television news. It seems that Akron has only one television station compared to Youngstown's five, and that one TV station has no local news. For the people of Akron to get any local news they have to depend on the local newspaper, The Akron Beacon Journal and Time Warner Cable Chanel 23, while here in Youngstown WFMJ, WKBN, and WYTV all have top notch news departments that do a fantastic job for us.

One of the net results of having no TV news is that the Congressman that served the Akron area and was in Congress many years lost to OUR CONGRESSMAN, Tim Ryan.

Another result of the lack of local TV news, Akron's Mayor was forced to have a magazine published to keep the people of Akron informed about what the city was doing.

All five of Youngstown's TV stations along with the stations in Cleveland are Akron's ONLY source for TV news.
