Ryans staff refused to even allow me to speak on the phone with him. Knowing that they couldn't understand the problem I figured he can't either. Isn't it rather ironic that 2 years or so later he is still hiding from healthcare issues.

Even as the local media try to set up live town halls with Tim Ryan on healthcare, here is what we learned from the 8/13/09 Plain Dealer:

"Don't count on many televised shouting matches erupting at local congressional health-care forums.

Members of Congress from Northeast Ohio say they're gauging sentiments on the issue at small gatherings, and are conducting town hall meetings on the subject via telephone, where it's easier to avoid rowdiness."

They're releasing few details of their public schedules:

Rep. Tim Ryan (Democrat, Niles):
Although Ryan makes frequent public appearances in his district, his office would not release his schedule. It's up to groups that host Ryan to decide how they want to handle publicity, Ryan spokesman Brad Bauman said. Ryan supports health-care reform but has not taken a public stance on any pending bill. His Ohio office numbers are: 330-630-7311, 330-373-0074, and 330-740-0193.

And from the Vindicator:

There's no real substitute for a town hall meeting
