Looks like the move is a done deal, and there are now two Catholic K-8 schools within the city limits of Youngstown:

I hope the move is a success.  (And that two of the greatest foods on earth--pierogies and Brier Hill pizza--are served regularly in the school cafeteria!)

With Immaculate Conception merging with Sacred Heart are there now enough children in the perish to reopen Sacred Heart School?
No. Many of the kids going to this new St. Anthony's will be on vouchers anyways. One of the main reasons we were left with St. Chrinstine's within the city was because few parents could afford a catholic education alone; many of those parents moved to the suburbs.

I was interested to see that the Diocese of Youngstown is leaning toward relocating St. Joseph the Provider School from Campbell to the St. Anthony School building in Brier Hill.  It seems that the rationale for the move is to provide a more centralized location relative to the student body, which consists primarily of city residents.  My guess is the move would also better position the school to be a "feeder" into Ursuline High.

Any thoughts?
I practiced basketball at St. Anthony's when I played basketball at St. Joe's. It is a beautiful school. Its location along the 711 makes this move make perfect sense.
