Where was Zombie Land?

I've heard is was in east Lowellville or maybe just across the Pennsylvania border from Lowellville.

Hillsville. Get on 224 heading towards PA. There's a stone bridge and just after it is a church and cemetery on the left. By the church, there's a white statue of mary. Sometimes her arms are outstretched, sometimes her hands are folded. If you go at night and her arms are outstretched, it's advised not to go near the cemetery, as she is welcoming in the souls of those departed, and the living if you are foolish to interfere. The cemetery is divided by a narrow street that gets even narrower and turns into a one lane bridge. The bridge is old and bumpy, and cars have been known to stall out on it. Often times when this happens, you'll see headlights behind you, but no car will ever pull up. Roll down your windows and you might be able to hear the voices of children coming from the creek below. Beyond the bridge is a field where, when the weather is right, a thin layer of really dense fog hangs over it. Sometimes it has a greenish tint to it (due to Zombies...or natural gas). The land is really hilly and as you drive, your car moves above and below the fog. Creepy!

BUT, I think the bridge was recently replaced and widened. Haven't been down there in a while.

Sounds like the creek you are describing is actually the Mahoning River. Can't be more than 200 yards down the hill from 224 right there. And yes that bridge going over the river has been rebuilt. And you can easily get there using the back roads out of Lowellville.

Ytown, that is indeed the area as best I can tel. if you look close you will see a small part of the cemetery east of Churchill Rd. And I think the creek is east of that but I can't make it out. With a bit of luck I'll be over there this evening. Expect an eyewitness report. Maybe.

By the way, if anyone would like their own personal copy of War Of The Worlds let me know and I'll post a link to it.

Its great listening and a reminder of the power of old time radio over people.

My mom had the original broadcast on a record album when I was a kid but I don't really remember much of it.

towntalk the church is the former St. Lawerance Catholic Church. the church was bought by a gay couple that uses it as art gallery/residence.

Anyway weird part is that Zombie land is about a mile or so due North of the church and Cemetery. My neighbor also confirmed the Statue legend. But it is separate from Zombie Land.
