I bet that 90% of those protesting were the workers themselves. And it looks like the other 10
% were politicians bucking for a vote.

The general populace doesn't really care if it closes and those that understand business understand that things like this happen.

Yeah, it sucks but times change.

The mail will still be delivered.

(The proposed reduced delivery days are not related to our post offfice and therefore are another subject entirely.)

With email and fierce competition from private shippers and carriers, the post office is doing what it must in order to remain
viable.

Perhaps they could open a smal "parcel plus" type of store on W. Federal, with an internet lounge for people to send and read email?  Kind of
a miniature Kinko's, as it were?  They could still have post office boxes there, also....it won't replace the main post office, but the postal service
needs to do a marketing analysis of the areas in which they CAN still compete and focus on those aspects of the business...

They are going to have to change with the times if they want to stay around and in business five years from now

There was a good showing today.  Here is a photo.

Why?  With reduced mail volume it is inefficient to continue sorting mail at the Youngstown facility.  You may not have heard but the post office is losing money and needs to consolidate operations to survive.  Your mail delivery
will not be effected and the lobby will not be closed.

As you know, mail sorting at the main post office in downtown Youngstown may soon end.
