Unfortunately, and saddly, you then are the exception. Ask any teacher how many parients turn out for PTA meetings, or come to school for teacher parents conferences. Ask any city school Principal how many parents take the time to come to school when there are problems.

The work of our teachers is made harder because of downright rotten parents that aren't worthy of the name, but at the same time we have educators that are no better.

Not the rule, but there all the same.

Until the people of Youngstown start taking education and our school seriously, we'll keep losing really great youth to the suburban schools.

It all starts with the voters taking the Board races serious ... more serious than the races for Mayor or City Council. It's the future of our children that is at stake.

Ihave raised 3 daughters, all westside schools, 2 graduated, one just started the early start college for 9th graders, if parents are curious sit in on class's , I did , wehave a good teaching staff, so then make a comment.

I realize that this may not be a popular post, but it needs to be asked all the same based on a recent Vindicator story "Mother Refuses To Send Children To City Schools".

The question is: ARE THE YOUNGSTOWN CITY SCHOOLS FAILING OUR CHILDREN?

If so, what are we going to do about it?

TALK IS DIRT CHEAP AND NOT WORTH A PLUG NICKLE, but our children are our hope for the future, either we stand up for them, or we fail them, and condemn them to a hopeless future.
