My son and I had just gotten out of the car in our driveway about 8:45 when we heard two different sirens start. We stood on the front porch while watching the sky light up while figuring if/when we heard something we'd run into the house and down to the basement. Less than three minutes later the sirens were off, the rain stopped and the lightning stopped.

Strange as it seems, as I typed the word "lightning" I heard some thunder.
