It is not surprising, therefore, that while police Chief Foley was assuring the business owners that his department will do all it can to address the crime situation, Councilwoman Gillam, Beniston and London were no where to be found.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A $1,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the robbery and assault on a Youngstown grocery store owner.
As 21 News was first to report on Monday, the owner of the Rainbow Red & White Market on Elm Street was blind-sided when one of three robbery suspects came up from behind him and began pistol whipping him. The thieves robbed him of thousands of dollars in cash.
The crime happened Sunday evening just after 5:30 p.m.
The 58-year-old store owner received serious wounds to the head and needed stitches.
Now the Greater Valley Grocer's Association and the Wick Park Neighborhood Committee have stepped in urging anyone with information to contact Youngstown police detectives.
Al Adi is the President of the Greater Valley Grocers' Association and says, "For those people who did what they did, it was cruel. It was ugly. Painful to see something like that. The store owner is a peaceful guy, not a guy to fight at all. He did not resist, didn't do anything. Why would you do such a thing? And I'm urging anybody that has any information and knows anything about the people responsible to just come forward. We're offering a $1,000 reward."
Adi also says that one of the goals of the Greater Valley Grocers' Association is the protection and security of the stores in general. He says the Rainbow Red & White Market is the only store in that area, and it's important to keep it operating there for people who don't have transportation to get to other stores.
The Greater Valley Grocer's Association and the Wick Park Neighborhood Committee plan to meet with Youngstown's police chief this week to ask for more police patrols in the Elm Street and Wick Park areas.
