Newspaper Delivery Getting Worse

Why?Town

Delivery started going bad at some point long before the "new" Vindicator happened. In the 1990s our 13 yr old neighbor girl was the best ever. She got a Christmas bonus AND never even asked for, or expected it. Switching to morning delivery caused her to be replaced by some adult that was nowhere near as dependable as she was except for making sure they delivered a Christmas Card, sometimes with a little note of how much a tip would be appreciated.

At some point IIRC, the old Vindy wanted it done one way and the delivery adults wanted to do something different. I'm sure this had a negative effect of some sort.

When the old Vindy was "going out of business" some delivery people, probably the best, found new jobs. I bet some get paid at least a little more. Not a hard thing to do with an economy that's forced a lot of "Help Wanted" signs  to be on the streets. This reminds me of back in the 1990s when the economy was doing fairly good it was hard to get decent service in any of the cheaper restaurants and especially fast food. Everyone that was good had a better job.

A few months ago the Tribune took over the Vindicator. It was so close to the end of the line that they had very little time adjust to the increase in size of every aspect of the newspaper business.  Delivery probably wasn't near the top of their list of things to do because if they figured out increased delivery first, what would they have to deliver?

And here we are today with at least a few lazy good-for-nothing adults that can't handle a kid's job.

A few days ago, the newspaper was never delivered.

We get weekend only.  We have noticed that deliveries are later since they got the new circulation supervisor.  Sometimes almost noon before we get the paper.

It started with late newspaper deliveries.
Then there were days when the newspaper was not delivered at all.
Now the delivery person is just throwing the newspaper at the end of the driveway.
