It took only less than a month in November 1989 for the so-called Velvet Revolution in Prague to force the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia to relinquish its power, allow the single-party state to collapse and transform Václav Havel from a dissident playwright into the President of a democratic Czechoslovakia.
