Title: An Example Of Inflation At A Grocery Store
Post by: jay on February 17, 2022, 07:31:16 PM
I went to a grocery store this evening.  A food item that I previously purchased for $1.99 was now $3.49.
A 75% increase.

:(

I did not purchase the food item.

I was in another grocery store today.   A food item that sold for 99 cents (for months) was now $1.19 (a 20% price increase).

I hope you bought several of those items at the 20% increase price before they go up another 20% and end up at $1.44.

And 20% plus 20% might seem like 40% because 20 plus 20 equals 40 but percentages aren't always trustable. That $1.44 is 45% more than the original $.99

Even worse, prices ending with a 9 are always more common so those will probably be $1.49, instead of $1.44, and there it will be at a 50% increase before we know it.
