Dennis Spisak supports Ohio Senate Bill 221 and more green jobs

Dennis Spisak, Green Party Candidate for State Representative for the 60th District, announced he supports Ohio Senate Bill 221which calls for support of clean energy for Ohio.

"Last week the Ohio House of Representatives heard testimony from Exxon-Mobile funded Heartland Institute to try and sway Ohio Legistlators from a clean energy bill by dismissing global warning and get Ohio to stay the course with dirty sources of power." said Spisak.

"If elected to the Ohio House I will work to bring solar energy companies, wind energy developers and renewable energy manufacturers to Ohio which will have a huge environmental and economic opportunity for our state." Spisak added.

Dennis Spisak again stressed the need to bring alternative energy companies, manufacturers, and green collar jobs to the Mahoning Valley.

"We need to provide workers training to take advantage of new opportunities and job growth in renewable and clean energy, providing pathways out of poverty for lower income communities. We can generate accelerated investment in clean energy technologies and businesses. As we switch to an economy less dependent on fossil
fuels, we will see growth in clean energy economies."

Green Party Membership and Voting Procedures

Green Party of Ohio 2008 Presidential Poll Official Ballot

Use of Poll:  The results of this poll will determine how the Green Party of Ohio's delegation to the National Green Convention votes on the first round of voting for the Presidential Nomination.  The Ohio delegation's votes will be split up on a proportional basis among the choices listed as first choice in the Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) ballot, below.

Who can vote:  Green Party of Ohio members, who are Ohio residents, registered with the Party thru

www.ohiogreens.org or on paper sent to the Secretary (mail to Tim Kettler, GPOH Secretary, 29674 TR 30,

People must register before the Convention to vote at the Convention.

The deadline for registration is 10 AM on April 4, 2008, (the day before the Convention).

Registration is via participation and recognition in a Local Party whose membership is sent to the State Party or
registration on the website.  For identification purposes we require your name, email (if available), street address and phone number (if available) so we can match these with those we have in our membership records.

How to Vote:  Members can vote using the following methods:

2.  Send an email (to pauld@columbus.rr.com) no later than April 4.

Green Party Presidential Nominee Ballot

In the space next to each name, rank your choices 1-6.  The person you prefer most should be ranked #1, your second choice #2, and so on.  We will use an IRV process to determine an overall winner of the poll.

The purpose of this is to demonstrate how IRV works and to provide additional information to interested groups or individuals.  If you only mark one choice, that will be counted as your first choice.  You are not obligated to rank additional choices; however, ranking as many choices as you would support makes it more likely that your ballot will be counted in multiple 'instant runoff' rounds.  Comments included in other guidance will be communicated to delegates.

You May Rank Your Choices 1 - 6

Jesse Johnson -

Cynthia McKinney -

Kent Mesplay -

Ralph Nader -

Kat Swift -

Kettler for Senate Campaign Update

Kettler for Senate meets first goal!

A significant goal has been met! After today's signature gathering
activities the Kettler for Senate Campaign has reached the amount of
valid signatures needed to make the ballot. We have now gathered 1230
signatures and from here begin to accumulate the cushion to cover those
signatures that may be invalidated. The sense that I have is we may
qualify a rather large number of sigs due to the demographic of the
signers and the locations where we have gathered. A large number of
signers are older, perhaps 65+ with the largest amount coming from the
25-45 age group of college students, a very reliable group when it
comes to registered voters.

Some validity rates and sigs needed:

70% valid...... 1800 signatures
65% valid...... 1950     "
60%   "  .......2100     "

In my 2006 campaign for Secretary of State we qualified 67% of the
signatures. We gathered in areas that produced high volume but not
always high validity. I expect to have a better outcome this time.

Although this is an encouraging milestone we are now moving into the
worst of the weather. If you have been gathering please continue to do
so as weather and time permits. If you have yet to start and were
intending to do so please use those good weather days to your advantage
as your schedule permits.

Thanks to everyone for their efforts and support.

To date we have raised $2775, almost all of it qualifying as public
funds. Some contributions have come from those with no Ohio Income Tax
liability or are over the credit amount. Thanks for your personal
contributions!
