This was not vandalism, but an accident when it was struck by a member of the Youngstown Fire Department who was putting up decorations for a parade on May 31, 1951.

The Man on the Monument was vandalized so badly he lost his head over it! :)

How long until some drunk driver drives through it?
ole man hanni is dead. the sign is safe.

So we shouldn't do anything to beautify our city for fear of vandals. Let the city go to pot and look like a city dump?

Come on folks, how many times has the Man on the Monument been vandalized? When was the last time that the John Young Monument been vandalized, or for that matter, the Volney Rogers monument on Glenwood Avenue?

If we did absolutely nothing out of fear of vandals, we'd be one sorry, pathetic lot.

How long til the vandals get to it?

Towntalk

Jay, First of all, I'm sure that it wasn't made in China. Secondly, the next time you're downtown take a look at it, I'm also sure that the name of the business that made the signs will be there somewhere.

do you think the city sign shop made the sign?

Which company made the sign?  Was it a business located in Youngstown?
