While it "only" got up to 90 today, I was up in the attic until about 2:30, when the heat became too uncomfortable, and I did some work downstairs.  But, overall, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

The "it feels like" estimate this afternoon in my area was "116 degrees".

Rick, you are a VERY hard working man - please be careful buddy and make sure you drink lots of liquids, and pace
yourself.....

A young, strong, and perfectly fit 20 year old man died in Virginia yesterday while working outside - due to heat stroke and
dehydration.

I think Allan was referring to me.  Maybe if I would have written my last sentence as such he would understand:

"I always get a bit of a chuckle when I hear of a "heat advisory", as there are a lot of people out there whose jobs must go on whether in hundred degree heat or 40 below cold."

I don't think anyone was making a joke out of this heat wave. I know that in a few days I'll be 73, and this weather is playing holy heck with me.

As of 7:45 AM

Temp. 77
Dew Point  74 Degrees
Humidity 90%
Wind NW at 3 MPH

For the very young, the elderly and those with respiratory problems this is NO JOKE.

If you must work outside, drink a sports drink that has electrolytes in it - along with some fresh water at
regular intervals.  Heat stroke and dehydration can be deadly in this weather EVEN to those who are
physically fit.

At 3 am this morning, the thermometer outside my back window measured 97 degrees  and the forecast says
the next three days could all be over 100 degrees.  I had to wait until almost dark last night just to cut the back
yard....

I was deep in the bowels of a blast furnace plant today working as usual.  Soaking wet from sweat, fogged up glasses, extremely miserable conditions.  The heat is a bit of an inconvenience but the work as to get done!  I always get a bit of a chuckle when I hear of a "heat advisory"!

Rest his soul, George was thr perfect companion. My landlord often commented that hr wouldn't have known there was even a dog in the apartmrnt, George was that quiet when I went to work. I'd put a couple of doggy bowls full of water and a bowl of Alpo down for him before I left and took him for a walk so he could releave himself and he was good to go.

My dog has what the vet calls separation anxiety. He will not stay alone and howls whenever either the Mrs or I leave. Yesterday we had no choice but to take him with us to a Medical Appointment where I had to go in with the Mrs. I locked up the van and left the motor running with the air on. Sure enough someone called the Sheriffs department. Even after i made an announcement in the waiting room (to 40 people) that the air was on and he had fresh water. The Deputy agreed that whoever called really should have walked close enough to the van to hear the engine running.

Tomorrow she has to see an eye specialist, I'll sit in the car with him.

No need to tell everyone that we're under a heat advisory over the next couple of weeks, so if you don't have to go out during the day, stay inside, and drink plenty of water. Close your blinds and keep doors closed advises First Energy, and avoid unnecessary use of major appliances.

At 3:45 PM the temperature is 95 degrees, Dew Point 73 degrees, Humidity 45% and the winds WNW at 15 MPH.

Also make sure that your pets have plenty of fresh cleen cool water and are kept inside.
