The demolition of the West Side Library has begun. The garage area that formerly housed the bookmobile was removed today.
As of Wednesday evening, all of the structures around the original building had been removed.
As of 2:00 p.m. today, the library building has been completely demolished. All that needs to done is remove the debris.
All of the demolition debris has been removed. The heavy equipment has also been removed from the site.
Today a bulldozer was leveling the property. The few remaining trees on the property were cut down.
What are you folks doing for a library?
A few days ago I noticed that very dark soil had been shoved into piles on the library work site. Today, I noticed that the piles (probably topsoil) were gone. Were did the soil go?
did they mark off the area where the indoor children playgrd will be inside the new library? :o
More dirt has been added to the site. Heavy equipment is being used to compact the new soil.
It is surprising just how high the lot has become. In places, the lot's contour appears to be about two feet higher than the existing sidewalks along S. Schenley and Mahoning Avenue.
the new library has to sit high on a pile of dirt to accommodate the new indoor playgrd in the new westside library. ;D
Although it was raining today, the pad for the new library was being marked off for various utility lines.
When do they think that the Library will be done?
Crews were pouring the footers today.
