Folks,

The first place to get some attention with regard to police response times, lack of appropriate response
to citizen complaints, etc is with the Chief of Police.  We need to start MAKING the time to appear
[IN PERSON] at the Police station and file a complaint - EACH and EVERY time someone calls
the police and either receives a slow response, an inappropriate response, or a lack of response
altogether.

The police department is not going to step up to the plate until enough outraged citizens have
made it very clear, and very PUBLIC - that we are fed up with the "status quo" in Youngstown.

If the chief of police cannot make some changes and get results, then the next stop is the
Mayor's office.  If I am not mistaken, the mayor has the legal authority to hire and fire
personnel within the police department, up to and including the Chief of Police.

'nuff said.......

The homicide at Eagle Heights Field had another impact on the south side.  Parents of suburban football teams do not want their scheduled games to be played at the Eagle Heights football field.

I talked with a South Avenue businessman who will soon move his business to the suburbs because of the criminal activity on South Avenue.  Drug dealing and prostitution are even taking place during daylight hours.  If the average citizen witnesses this activity, why don't the police see it?
