I also heard on the news this morning that these 2 homicides were 35 and 36.  When was the 34th?

The number of homicides for this year is at 36, there were 32 at this time in 2006.

Two men were found shot to death in a SUV on West Ravenwood on the south side of the city.  I believe the number of murders is now 35 for the year.
