I'll rephrase the question.

Is anyone in the Mahoning Valley tinkering with an electric car conversion?

or

Would anyone be interested in creating an electric vehicle demonstration project?

How about this:

Toyota already makes a version of the "Rav-4" small SUV in California that is ALL electric.
The car has a top speed of 76 M.P.H. and can travel approximately 240 miles before
re-charging its batteris.  (I read this on the Internet a couple years ago).

So, I guess that begs the question: Why is this vehicle only sold in California?  Since
Toyota and GM are manufacturing partners, WHY isn't GM jumping on the bandwagon
and building some electric cars?

Has anyone in our area ever converted an existing car to run with an electric motor and batteries?  I certainly would like to see the car if it were still around.  Maybe electric car conversions could develop into a new industry for the valley.
