Title: Re: Police/Fire Scanner Link
Post by: yfdgricker on November 14, 2006, 07:08:54 PM

PLEASE NOTE: I am no longer streaming the Youngstown Police or the Mahoning Valley Emergency Services feeds any more due to computer issues. They may return in the future but for now I am not spending any money on infrastructure to maintain those feeds anymore. I am still keeping the Youngstown Fire feed operational. Thank you for your support of the feeds.

The Youngstown Fire Department Live feed is:
http://yfd.dnsalias.com/ (http://yfd.dnsalias.com/)
Click on the Listen Live link.
What is programmed in:
Channel 1 - Dispatch
Channel 2 - Fireground Ops 1
Channel 3 - Fireground Ops 2

Note: All radio traffic on this feed is archived at that address.

4/27/2007 Update...

I have the YFD feed back up and running but I am having some issues with the Police feed. I hope to have it back in normal operation this weekend. Tuesday, I had the power supply in the PC burn up. I replaced it but I'm not sure if the sound cards were damaged. Getting 4 sound cards running on 1 computer is a delicate dance :)

4/28/2007 Update...

I think I have all the feeds back up and in regular operation. If anyone has problems, please post a reply here... http://mahoningvalley.info/forum/index.php?topic=1948 or PM me.

Thanks!

Update 9/21/2007

The feeds are messed up again. I will be troubleshooting the problem after 7pm tonight.

Hang in there and hopefully everything will be back up and working later this evening.

No problem -  as with anything else computer and internet related, there are bound to be glitches.
Thank you very much  for providing this service for us, Greg.

Update: 9/21/2007 11:56pm

I believe I have the feeds back and the correct radios sending out the correct audio.

As I mentioned before, computers weren't designed to have 4 sound cards running inside it :) Please take a couple minutes and test the feeds and see if they are broadcasting correctly, if not drop me a private message on the forums here.

Sorry it took so long. I got one of my radios back from Uniden. The screen went bad on the radio and I had them replace it. I hooked that up last weekend and restarted the live feed for that radio and I think it messed up the settings for all the other feeds. I also started a new job this past week so tonight was the first chance I had to get everything back to normal operations. Thanks again for bearing with me.

There is a slim chance that the feeds may be down for a brief period of time. I'm going to have to switch my Time Warner Road Runner connection around since I was getting the internet through my old place of employment. I have to get them to start billing me directly. Hopefully, they can switch it without interruption in my internet service but there is always a chance that things might not go as planned. I'll try and keep everyone updated as much as I can.

Happy monitoring!
Greg

All three feeds are back in normal operations. I've added a link to the YNG/Mahoning Valley feed so you can listen to Youngstown and the surrounding area. That feed is mostly fire with Rural Metro, Clemente EMS and Ohio State Patrol District 4 thrown in for some excitement. Should something big happens and I'm not there, I can control or reprogram the scanner remotely.

Enjoy and thanks for everyone's support. The computer seems to run much faster and looks a whole heck of a lot better. I'll post some pics of my streaming setup soon :)

Having trouble with YPD feed, suddenly not working tonight. Tried the new feed (Mah. Valley) it works . But YPD worked for 15 sec. and quit and every time I tried it again it just replays the same 15 sec. and quits, when I stopped it and tried playing it again I get "buffering" but it never starts back up.
thanks for any help.

All three feeds are currently down as of 8am on 6/18/2009.

I had to pull the computer due to several problems with Windows XP. I hope to have the computer rebuilt and the feeds operational again by this evening.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

The police and fire feeds are temporarily offline as of 8am on 6/18/2009.

I am having problems with Windows XP on the machine and have pulled it to reformat and reinstall. I hope to have the feeds back up and running some time this evening.

I'll post any updates as I get them.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi everyone,

The yfd feed is up and running. Check the address in the first post of this topic for the new URL. If you have problems with connecting let me know and I'll investigate.

The YPD and Mahoning County feeds are being worked on at this time and will hopefully be up tonight.

UPDATE: The Mahoning Valley fire feed and the YPD feed are up and running. They can be found at the new addresses at the top of this topic.

Glad you are able to listen to the feeds again.

I'm still working out some bugs with the new system but so far it is much nicer having two seperate computers running the feeds. One computer runs just the YFD feed and also records all the FD radio traffic which I archive monthly to CD. The second computer runs just the YPD and Mahoning Valley fire feed.

I've attached a couple of pics of my setup in case anyone was interested in seeing what it looked like. The first photo shows the two computers (YFD top, YPD and MVFire bottom) and the BC780XLT running the Mahoning Valley feed. The second photo in the middle shows the two scanners running the YPD and YFD feeds.

I don't think it's anything you did joly1584. I've got something messed up somewhere and I can't figure out where exactly the problem lies. I can access all three of my feeds when I am on my home network but I can't access them from an internet connection outside my house. I'm looking at my router settings, my firewall ports and my DNS alias software and so far I'm not sure what is causing the feed access problems. I'll let everyone know when I get it resolved. If anyone IS able to connect to any of the feeds, please post here and let me know. Thanks.

Hi Mary,

I've been listening to it for about 30 minutes now and I'm getting all of the traffic. I'm wondering if last night they were doing some type of event or something and had all non important traffic on Channel 2. I only have channel 1 programmed into the radio. Most of the time channel 2 is used to run vehicle plates and check people for wants and warrents so I have it locked out. I'll listen to it again tonight and see if there is any change.
