It has taken almost a year for the price of gasoline to drop to $3.27 a gallon at west side filling stations. Do you think it will ever drop below $3.00 in the next year?
Rejoice and be exceeding glad for on Midlothian Blvd. regular gas averages $3.35 per gallon.

QUESTION
How many here take advantage of Giant Eagle Fuel Perks, and if so, what was the most you've ever earned? The most I've ever earned was $1.00 a gallon off on gas.
$2.99 today on the East side. I forget the name of the station.

I don't shop at Giant Eagle. Can't afford to.
I filled my Van about 2 years ago using Giant eagle perks.I paid about 40 cent a gallon... I don;'t use that much gas any more and fill up even less, mostly just grab $10 wherever i'm at...And it's good for a few weeks...
It's now $3.05 a gallon on Mahoning Avenue today.

On Logan Avenue, it's $2.88.

Well happy days! A friend just got gas at the Shell station at Belmont and I-80.
Paid $2.85. :) 8)
Gasoline is now $2.77 per gallon on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown.
Gas hit $2.69 a gallon at one of the local Sunoco stations here, yesterday
Sunnoco has a multi billion project running massive pipeline from Ohio thru pa taking American gas to an lng plant for export to the world. This is one reason energy is now cheaper locally. Thank fracking you bums :)

2.69 at Gas Mart on Belmont Ave north of Gypsy.
Both stations are locally owned.

Which Shell (there are 2 on Belmont)?
The Shell at Belmont and Gypsy, as of this morning, was 2.75.
The one further out on Belmont in Liberty. I saw it there Saturday night when I went shopping at Giant Eagle. Across the street from Chase Bank. See picture. Belmont at Liberty Rd.
QUESTION FOR WEST SIDE JAY:
There are 3 gas stations on Mahoning Avenue and Meridian Rd. that you never mention WHY?
Technically, two of them - the BP and the ??? Merchant - are in Austintown, which begins on the west side of Meridian. Only the Speedway is (technically) in Youngstown.

Ah yes, the one closer to I-80.
Oh dear, does that mean that we must boycott everything that is outside the city limits? My oh my, I guess that I'm not a loyal lemming because 90% of my shopping is in Liberty Township, as does my very best friend in this whole wide world, who is like a brother to me. Shame on me!
LOL, by no means. I shop in Liberty all the time, and I live in Yo, but just on the south side of Gypsy.
I was simply wondering which Shell you were referring to.
I weren't a referrin' to you but to our West side friend. It might sound crazy that there is a Giant Eagle near me, but I still do all my grocery shopping at the Churchill Common's Giant Eagle because I really like the folks there. I started shopping at that store back in 1984 when it was on Goldy Road and also, my bank is on Belmont Avenue, and my family has dealt with that bank since 1951 when it was People's Bank with it's main office in the Stambaugh Building downtown on the Square. I'm a creature of habit and only make changes when it is absolutely necessary and I have no other choice.
I saw gas for $2.59 a gallon at a Liberty gas station in my area today.
Are prices still falling in Youngstown?
Yes. Slowly but steadily, with the occasional increase, just to make us tug at our hair a bit.
Today, $2.62 on Mahoning Avenue
Frack on!!!!
Locally owned station on Belmont, north of Gypsy
Corner of Gypsy and Belmont
$2.48 on Logan Ave, north side.
Locally owned.
Mahoning Avenue today, $2.58.
SPEEDWAY - Belmont Ave. $2.45
GETGO - Belmont Ave. $2.45
SHELL - Belmont Ave. $2.45
BP - Belmont Ave. 2.47
FOR PEGGY
I keep forgetting that if it's even an inch outside the city limits that some of our friends on that side of town refuse to trade with them even if they would be saving money with each fillup.
Supporting City Businesses = Creating Jobs In The City
For all too many Youngstowners that .10 to .15 cents a gallon means a whole lot ... it saves more money to pay bills with, to put food on the table, to pay for medicine. Every penny saved up counts my friend and that is the bottom line. There are several service stations within the city where fuel can be purchased for a lower price than the stations on the West Side, so shouldn't our friends on the West Side buy their fuel there rather than the more expensive West Side fuel? Whether it's purchased on Logan Avenue, or Mahoning Avenue it's the same gas, and maby if enough people avoided the higher fuel on Mahoning Avenue it would force the prices down there for the benefit of all West Siders.

I agree. ;)
If you only use a few gallons of gasoline each week, it doesn't make much sense to drive all over the place to save a couple pennies per gallon.
For a family on minimum wage already struggling to make ends meet, those "few pennies" are the difference between putting bread on the table, or going to bed hungry. It might not make sense to you that a father would drive from his home say on Mahoning and Maryland, to a gas station on Belmont ave. where the gas is .18 cents cheaper. True, he would save only about $1.80, but in the course of a month that $1.80 becomes $7.20. And how long does it to drive from that location to Belmont Avenue using the expressway?
My friend has told me about a family we both know who is going through hard times. He has health issues, his wife is a semi-invilade because of an auto accident, and that savings means everything because they chose not to go on welfare. He can only work part time, and it's hard because in better days he was earning good money and was able to help finance their daughter through college.
Amen. The falling gas prices are helping folks out by giving them just a little more
wiggle room in their budgets. I can't remember the Last time I was able to put
half a tank of gas in my truck for $35.00
The same holds true for businesses who rely on transport.
What are diesel prices looking like around Y-Town, folks?

What are diesel prices looking like around Y-Town, folks?
Diesel prices are not nearly as stable, and vary wildly from station to station, i.e. 3.89 at one and a mile down the road it's 3.76, while at the interstate, it's 3.65.
At least here on the north side.
I've always thought diesel fuel prices to be a rip off. Diesel is extracted from the same raw
crude as gasoline - so why the huge difference in price?
Its like folks are being penalized for driving cars whose engines get better mileage.....

Not to mention the truckers. ::)
On occasion, I purchase gasoline from a larger service station on Mahoning Avenue. People of means appear to purchase gas at the pump using a credit card. Inside the service station other people often buy smaller amounts of gas using a few wrinkled dollars and an assortment of pocket change.
While some people can afford to fill up the tank, others can barely afford the price for one gallon of gasoline.
On one occasion, my friend was able to purchase gas at Getgo for $2.25 thanks to the Advantage card and all the purchases I made at Churchill Commons Giant Eagle.
I use my bank debit card, which looks like a credit card because of the visa logo on it.
You could be seeing a lot of those at the pump, Jay, rather than credit cards.
I'm able to fill up my tank once every 3 or 4 months if I'm lucky. The rest of the time it's $10 here and there.
My son's dad filled his Impala up for $30 yesterday. Hopefully it'll be low enough soon so I can fill up my Impala for $25.
Hey, one can hope. ;)

Tom's Gas and Groceries on Logan Ave - 2.32! ;D
On the West Side $2.47
Gas was $2.35 on Mahoning Avenue today.
We should change the title of this thread to "Will the price of gasoline drop below $2.00?"
:) Like this ???
It is 2.31 at Tom's Gas & Groceries on Logan Ave.
It's $2.29 at the stations on Belmont Avenue. My frient filled up today at the Getgo at Churchill Commons spent $1.59 a gallon with the credits I built up with fuel perks on my Advantage Card.
When I went by the BP station at Gypsy and Belmont this evening, it was 2.39 still. The locally owned station just north of them was 2.37.
I was planning on downsizing to a smaller vehicle when my Expedition gets traded in next year
but I am seriously considering the purchase of the full sized van I've always wanted.
No way is this going to last. Already reports surfacing about those oil countries over there getting very nervous and considering cutting production to drive the prices back up. :-X
I'd go with the smaller car if I were you.
Still Dropping
Gas was $2.33 per gallon on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown today.
Reduce Demand - Ride the WRTA
I paid $2.25 this morning and filled up for $28.50! :o ;D
It's now $2.22 on Mahoning Avenue.
$2.12 at Tom's Gas & Groceries on Logan Ave.
$2.16 at Gas Mart on Belmont, north of Gypsy Ln.

JAY:
The Valley Service Center on Mahoning Avenue, is selling gas ay $1.96 a gallon. Is there some reason why you never mention this West Side Business located in the Garden District?
Tom's Gas & Groceries on Logan Ave is $1.98/gal
$1.96 today on Mahoning Avenue
$1.88 on Logan Ave.
Gas was indeed $1.86 on Mahoning Avenue today.
Frack on!!!!!!!
Wow... I wonder when gas prices are going to bottom out, and how low they will
go before prices go up again.....
fracking has a two double edge sword. more gas and oil on the market thus lower gas prices for usa residents. :D the flip side, steel mills that make pipe for the fracking industry are laying off workers due to gas and oil deposits are flooding the market thus a lower profit margin for the gas and oil companies that drill for gas and oil >:( these companies are cutting back on their exploration for gas and oil in which these companies do not need to order pipe from the steel mills thus causing layoffs in the steel mills. :'(
Thank God we here in eastern Ohio have "wet gas." LPG'S. And not crude or NG.
$1.77 today on Mahoning
We should be taking the fullest possible advantage of this oil and gas boom to export as much
as we can, thereby reducing our trade deficit with countries like our biggest creditor ie: China.
The rock bottom gas prices are helping businesses and families all over the U.S, so that is a
blessing in and of itself.
I agree that the surplus can be a double edged sword - but we gotta make the most of the
up-side while we can.
Quotereducing our trade deficit with countries like our biggest creditor ie: China
or we could try to avoid purchasing foreign made items
Yikes!!!!
Gasoline jumped to $2.09 on Mahoning Avenue this afternoon.
;D ;D HaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Here on East Midlothian it's between $1.88 and $1.89 a gallon. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
My friend stopped at the GetGo on Belmont Avenue to gas up. Gas there is $1.89 a gallon, and he had $1.00 in Fuel Perks so he was able to gas up for .89 cents a gallon. Needless to say that he filled up his car.
It is back down to $1.85 on Mahoning Avenue today.

With the death of the King of Saudi Arabia, look for gas prices to go up to over $2.00 a gallon inthe days to come.
i doubt it. the gas and oil companies do not care about the the dead king's arse and his family. IT IS ALL ABOUT DRILL BABY DRILL. ;D
You forget that we do not have a Rockafeller with us today, and the two major oil powers are OPEC and thr Russian (Communist) Federation and they ultamately determine prices.
Fracking shale results in a very rapid decline curve in production hence continuance of drilling until declines get the O &G companies to the production level targeted including the decline. OPEC was too dumb to do the math and believed it's strategy the right course. All OPEC is doing is putting the breaks on Russia and other conventional drillers collapsing their economies. The US shale drillers will experience rapid production declines effecting the soon to come spiking of oil prices back up to over $100 per barrel. Some experts believe even $200 a barrel. Hold onto your seats, shortly gasoline will spike the other way. Fracking is a new type of production in the world and will resume ......the world simply sucks up too much oil.
