These were the shipping containers that were used to transport the tops of the new bus shelters.  There were enough 2x4s to build a small house.  The wood should have been offered to the Habitat For Humanity Restore on Youngstown-Poland Road.

We could have used a couple of them at our community garden in Brier Hilll.  Although it is more of a swamp than a garden this year!

Maybe the benches could be re-used in one of the small, "pocket parks" around
town?

I also wonder what will happen to the benches that were inside the shelters.  I'm sure the benches could be used somewhere else in the community.

Why weren't some of the Federal Station bus shelters disassembled and then used as shelters along some of the bus routes?

As permanent structures, they would probably have needed permits, and/or permission from the property owners.  Also, were they suitable for reuse? (the Austintown shelter is an extreme example, but it was in very poor shape.)
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

The old bus shelters on the east side of the WRTA Federal Station were demolished today.
