YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – The Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., announces its 6th Annual Summer Fundraising is a Drag! event, titled "FREAKSHOW." The show will begin at 7:00 pm with a wine and cheese reception, hosted by members of the Oakland Board of Directors, and a Fabulous Chinese Auction, featuring donations from many local artists and businesses in the community. Performance begins at 8:00 pm and will be followed by a meet and greet reception with the cast.

Tickets to this special fundraising event are $15. To make reservations, call 330-746-0404.

This year's show is directed by Robert Dennick Joki, who also handles costume design. FREAKSHOW is a gender-bending circus/sideshow themed drag show, featuring live singing, dance, comedy, and spoken word and hosted by one fabulous bearded lady. This year's performance will also spotlight the first runner up of last year's The Oakland's Next Top Drag Queen competition, Snowflake St. Claire, and also features contestants Bebe Starr and Mary Jean Manson.

This year's performance features many new faces in addition to returning divas. Performers include Starrlet O'Hara, Maxine Factor, Buffy Melendres Starr, Snowflake St. Claire, Nikita Jones, Ricky Vega, Roxas, Pippi Hungstocking, Mary Jean Manson, Bebe Starr, Monica Collier, Lauren Thompson, Crystal Beiersdorfer, Natalia Hagan, Juleah Buttermore, and more!

The Oakland will also be out and about at the Pride Youngstown: It's a Family Affair event on Phelps Street in Downtown Youngstown all day June 6 with performances scheduled from 3-4 pm on stage that day. Local performers will re-enact favorite moments from past shows as well as offer previews of the upcoming 2009-2010 Season at the O! Special guest "Sara Palin" will emcee.
