A Major Reason why Obama's lead in the RCP Polls has gone from 7.8 to 4.9.

As greedy as some Americans are (you should have some idea who they are) Universal health care will be treated as welfare is now.  Sure many people could be saved but wont. The almighty dollar rules the people in this world. Yes I am cynical the world has made me that way

Why We Need Universal Health Care

October 18, 2008

Deamonte Driver was a seventh grader in Prince Georges County, Maryland, when he complained to his mom about a toothache.

After an unsuccessful search for a dentist who would accept Medicaid, Deamonte's mother took him to an emergency room where he was given medicine and then sent home. His condition soon took a turn for the worse, and he was back at the hospital being rushed to surgery after doctors discovered that bacteria from his abscessed tooth had spread to his brain.

Heroic efforts were made to save Deamonte, including two operations and weeks of follow-up care. But it was all too late. Deamonte died on February 25, 2007.

The Children's Defense Fund is committed to ensuring that every American child has access to affordable and comprehensive health coverage before it's too late.

The cruel irony is that Deamonte Driver's life could have been saved if he'd had access to routine dental visits and a simple tooth extraction. Our Step Forward for Children Campaign is dedicated to guaranteeing that children like Deamonte get a healthy start in life. And we've got our work cut out for us. Nearly 1 in 9 American children lacks health coverage—and 90% of children without adequate care live in households where at least one parent is working. Working parents deserve the peace of mind that comes from knowing they can take their children to a doctor when they need to.

Now is the time we must step forward and make our voices heard on behalf of the millions of children waiting for someone to give them a chance at a level playing field.

This is why we need Universal Health Care. I believe we should have a single-payer universal health care system for all Americans with no co-payments, no deductibles, no premiums, and no one excluded from coverage.

Since everyone will have health care coverage, people can choose and see their own doctors for routine care and encourages doctors to practice medicine of the highest quality.

I believe health care should be secure. Americans should no longer have to worry about losing coverage if they lose or change their job. Employers should no longer have to worry about the ever-increasing costs of health care.
