We heard how great ethanol was. Now we hear how DUMB it was...
I'll believe it when I see it!

We keep hearing that going Green will create million's of new jobs and would really like to know what the source for that figure is.

What's the population of the United States right now?
What is the percentage under 18 years of age?
What is the percentage over 65?
What percentage is unemployable due to handicaps or other health related problems?
What percentage is already gainfully employed?

No one disputes the fact that Green jobs will employ a large number of Americans, but million's?

If you were to examine the U.S. Department of Labor Stats section, you would soon find that there is no way that million's of workers would be available for Green jobs.

Thousands? I could buy that, but million's.

The skewing of data to boost Green jobs is one of the things that the critics jump on.

We all agree that it will be at least another 30 to 40 years before most of the jobs that are mentioned can actually come onto the market via mass production, and those already in production do not come anywhere near the 100,000 mark let alone million's

To achieve that figure, virtually every job category that the Department of Labor lists would have to be "Green", and that would include ... the professions ... service workers ... transportation workers ... all forms of manufacturing ... and yes even educators as well as their students, and media workers. Oh yes, even law enforcement and military personal.

We Can Choose A New Energy Economy

August 16, 2008

We can choose a new energy economy, creating millions of jobs, generating clean American energy and freeing us from the tyranny of oil.

Most jobs producing renewable energy are not easily outsourced, helping reverse the recent loss of 3 million manufacturing jobs.

Investing $30 billion a year for clean energy is a fraction of the $237 billion we spent on foreign oil last year and the $500 billion we've blown in Iraq to date.

Addressing climate change now will be much cheaper than dealing with the consequences.
