It use to be that some Catholic families would have a little shrine in their front yard.

Is this what you were referring to? Doing a Google search there are a number of companies that make these as lawn ornaments.

I used to get a kick out of the Virgin Mary shrines with the old bath tubs
stuck in the ground end=up.

I often passed by a south side home that was surrounded by white angel statues.  I've now found a west side home that is also surrounded by white angel statues. 

Is this part of some religious observance?

Are there any other homes with angels that you know of in the city of Youngstown?
