Don't know of any oil wells in the area but there are several gas wells. I know of one that is in the area shown on that map that was capped off but is known as an eternal flame. You can walk up to a pipe sticking about 3 feet out of the ground and about 6 inches below the top there is a 1 inch hole. If you hold a lighter to that hole it will flare out for a few seconds, then you have to wait 2 minutes to light it again.

Isn't it ironic that the map that went with the ad looks like the map that applies to todays Utica wells?

A week later old man Spisak sent a letter to the editor decrying the dangers of oil, and saying that it will destroy the pristine beauty of the steel mills to have oil derricks sticking up in between the rolling mill buildings.
