Shortly after 1:30pm Monday, the Youngstown Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire in a vacant house at 2740 South Avenue between Cornell and Marmion. Engines 9, 2 and 15, Ladder 24, Squad 33 and Battalions 1 and 2 responded.

Engine 9 show on the left of the photo came from Midlothian and Sheridan. Ladder 24 on the right from Indianola Ave.

Arriving companies reported light smoke from the basement of the house. After a short investigation, engines 2 and 15, the squad and Battalion 1 were cleared. The remaining companies ventilated the basement of the house and returned to service.

No cause or damage estimate is known at this time.

P.S. if you have any other photos from this fire or any other, I would love to add them to youngstownfire.com. Just go to http://www.youngstownfire.com/addyourpics

~I hope you never need the services of the Fire Department, but if ever you do, rest assured they will be there.

These two trucks were blocking the south bound lane in the 2700 block of South Avenue today at about 2:45 p.m.  What was going on and why were they positioned in opposite directions?
