:) ???It is hard to see the run down parts of this side of town getting zero attention, while the main emphasis seems to be on the Cornersburg area of town.  It would be very encouraging to see someone brave enough to put a nice restaurant or something on the Mahoning Avenue stretch between Steel St. and Mahoning Ave.

I left Youngstown 26 years ago and the area around Steel Street was run down even back then.
Maybe the folks in that commuity could band together and start a neighborhood association
to help clean up the neighborhood and push for change.

City government does not have the resources to fix every neighborhood in the city, and they
try to apply what limited resources they do have where those resources will do the most good.
I see more and more people banding together in their neighborhoods and working to make things
better...and the lower Mahoning Ave neighborhoods CAN get better but most of the improvement
will have to come from the residents that live there.

Businesses tend to locate where they can get the most business and where customers
feel safe patronizing their establishments.  If the neighborhood improves then maybe more
people will come there and maybe somebody will consider opening a business there.

Would the West Side be what it is today without Mill Creek Park? If there were no Mill Creek Park, the West Side would just be another 7th Ward.  :D   :D

Doesn't Mill Creek Park take in a big chunk of the West Side?

Define the area known as the West Side of Youngstown

To me, the West Side of Youngstown is basically the land area of the city west of Mill Creek Park and southwest of the Mahoning River.

Does anyone have a different definition?
