Four children are now orphans.  So sad.

I find it strange that the children would go outside to play even though the body of their violently killed mother was still inside the house.  The oldest child was 7 years old.

Unfortunately, we'll never know any further information about that side of the story, and I seriously doubt that when it comes to the trial that the 7 year old will be called onto the witness stand, or even if what the child told the police will be made public beyond what the prosecutor may say.
Certainly there have been cases where a young child called for help, but is that the norm for children that young?
We do not know the whole story yet ... what led up to the murder ... what life was like for the children, or even how they were being treated by the man, and only when the trial begins will that side of the story come out, and in the meantime we can not speculate.
