You are as dumbfounded as I am with this current Dennis the Menace tirade.  Kind of puts all of his arguments into the proper perspective doesn't it?

Actually those numbers are pretty good.  The national jobless rate is near 10% and in Wilson't district it is only 7%.  The national poverty rate is 13.2% and for it to be 15% in Appalachia isn't terribly bad.  Reduced lunch and food stamp program stats don't count for much as the qualification standards for those are arbitrarily set.

Charlie Wilson's plans to bring more coal jobs to his district would reduce these numbers, not increase them.  But as I said before, don't expect logical thought from Dennis.

Dan Moadus

So your solution Dennis, is to destroy the jobs of these children's fathers and mothers by killing the coal industry?

Charlie Wilson: Protecting Coal not Children in Poverty

While Millionaire Ohio 6th District Congressman Charlie Wilson takes huge money from pro-coal lobbyists to protect coal interests in his district, he doesn't seem to mind the amount of children who are living in poverty in his district.

According to the Ohio Children's Defense Fund-Kids Count 2008 Data, on average, Mr. Wilson's children suffer while Mr. Wilson takes thousands of dollars a year from big coal lobbyists.

How poor are the children in Charlie's District? Here are the facts and numbers:

15% live below the poverty level
35% are on reduced lunch
7% are unemployed
28% are on food stamps
45 per 1,000 are on a child-care assistance plan

You would think Charlie Wilson would worry more about the poor children in his district than the big coal lobbyists in his district. You thought wrong.
