Both the County Commissioners and the local legislatures are missing a great opportunity by not promoting WRTA and mass transit.

I really hate to say it, but I wonder just how much money in payoffs it would take to get them off the dime. As for those gaggles of lay abouts in Austintown and Boardman, are they so blind that they can't see how increased mass transit would help them. WRTA is a regional authority, not the property of the city so these sorry lay abouts can't use that as an argument.

Are they so totally blind that they can't see that the high fuel costs aren't just hurting city residents, or is is just a case of not caring?

WRTA has enough buses ready to go that they could cover Youngstown, Boardman, Austintown, Canfield, Campbell, and Struthers, but the area officials are so afraid that one single penny might go to Youngstown that they won't sit down with WRTA and work towards an expanded mass transit.

Certainly Congresman Ryan would be able to get funding for such a project given his position on the House Appropriations committee, one of the most committees in the House of Representatives.

I found it interesting that one of our county commissioners is more worried about developing the nine mile route on 422 from Y-town to the new casino site before he is willing to put another WRTA ballot issue up.......

Gas is over $4 dollars today......$5 by July 4th.......

How much longer will the Mahoning Valley wait to embrace mass transit?

oh, and has anyone heard comment from our current state legistlature Bob agan on gas prices or WRTA?????

That's why Bob Hagan needs replaced in November!

I voted FOR the WRTA tax. I am against higher taxes, but people do not realize how beneficial the WRTA is to our community. Of course people weren't thinking to the future when they voted NO, they should've known gas prices would continue to rise like I did.

New Companies looking at cities look to Public Transportation as one of their top factors when choosing where to locate. If you don't believe me, call any new growing company.

Correct! Wouldn't it be nice if WRTA could have had bus routes connecting all the events together?

That's why we need better mass transit in Y-Town....

That's why I hope folks come out to ride the WRTA with a Friend Day this Tuesday. June 24, 2008. Wear green and ride into town so we can meet at the WRTA Terminal by 11:30am and then have lunch at one of the fine restaurants or food courts downtown.

Many events are taking place in and around downtown Youngstown this Saturday.  Some Youngstown residents will not be able to attend these events because the WRTA no longer operates on Saturday.
