Title: Voter Turnout Tuesday
Post by: Towntalk on November 03, 2013, 06:45:12 AM
The Mahoning County Board of Elections is predicting a low turnout Tuesday, and with Youngstown having only 42,864 registered voters, anything can happen.

Officials are predicting a 35 to 40% turnout including absentee votes.

So 21% of Youngstown voters will determine who is the mayor, council president, and sits on the school board. Sad.

I'm beginning to think that only people who attend council meetings and Board of Education meetings should be allowed to vote for candidates running for these offices.  If you rely solely on commercials and 30-second news reports, you are not getting any idea for what is really going on and know which candidates advance ideas that will actually improve things.

Soon, only productive members of society will only be allowed to vote.  All others will sell their vote directly or indirectly as is the practice today.

the only thing sadder than the estimated percentage of voter turnout is the list of
candidates for Mayor of Youngstown...but then that is already another thread on the
boards here....
