Colleges charge <pun so much to attend classes there that as long as they're not getting govenment handouts they should definitely offer free charging to the students.

What seems kinda weird is that it looks like anyone can go there and plug in for free so I wonder how those students will feel about the cost of enrollment going up for the stuff I mentioned above.

Should our community provide a few public charging stations for anyone to recharge their cell phone?

I say no because the demand for free charging stations will, in short time, grow to the point that whoever is offering the free charges (the library, WRTA, or just about anyone connected to government) will end up paying "too much", not only for the chargers, but also for the electric bills to run them (and maybe even insurance and maintenence due to vandlism) and we'll be told we need to vote yes for some sort of tax to keep free charging "rights" for eveyone.

Yep, it will be considered a right and eveyone needs to pay taxes for rights. Not that our constitution was made for that.

Here is a short video (1min.) of what's been done at the University of Houston.

I walked into the lobby of a library today.  Two teens were changing their cell phones in the lobby on the only wall outlet available.

Should our community provide a few public charging stations for anyone to recharge their cell phone?
