Title: Local Road funding

Local Officials are in an uproar over the roadways.  This not a new problem. This is a result of a lack of the priority given to maintaining our nations infrastructure for decades from the Federal Government down to the smallest village. There is no quick fix but a good start would be to make some regulatory changes at the Federal level that will allow local governments to utilize fhwa funding on local roads. There is less then 10 million in federal funding per year available to the mahoning valley for road work. That is pathetic. And little if any of those funds make it to the townships. Increasing funding isn't enough. That money gets down to ODOT and it gets bogged down in red tape and eventually the state gobbles it up.  You have to start at the top
