Title: Vice Mayor?
Post by: jay on April 04, 2012, 09:40:38 PM
We have a President and Vice President.
Ohio has a Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

Should Youngstown have a Mayor and Vice Mayor?

 We already have a Vice Mayor ... the president of City Council.  ;)

What's wrong with following the lead of other cities and make the office of Mayor ceremonial, and hire a City Manager to actually run the city on a day to day basis ???

Bring in someone who has at least a Masters Degree in City Management and at least ten years as a CEO in the private sector to be Youngstown City Manager.

city manager, thanks but no thanks with the city manager there is no way the citizens can rid themselves of a bad cm unless they put pressure on the council reps.

The mayor already has an Administrative Assistant (Chief of Staff) who knows the workings of the mayors' office.  This is probably the only person capable of assuming the duties of mayor.  Just call the Administrative Assistant the Vice Mayor and run as a team in the next election.

chief of staff is overpd position for a job that a parrot can do to repeat the mayor's positions.
