ZOMBIE CRAWL returns to Downtown Youngstown this Saturday October 23, 2010.

Downtown Youngstown- The City of Youngstown, in conjunction with The Oakland Center for the Arts and the Youngstown Historical Society is proud to announce the second annual 2010 ZOMBIE CRAWL in Downtown Youngstown this Saturday October 23, 2010.

The Zombie Crawl will kick off at 3pm at Oak Hill Cemetery (344 Oak Hill Ave) the Youngstown Historical Society will be on hand to pass out walking tours of the historical cemetery. Make up artists from the Oakland Center will also be there offering Zombie makeup.

The registration for the Zombie Crawl will begin at 5pm at the Anthony's on the River parking lot (15 Oak Hill Ave) Zombie make up artists will be there along with a Zombie caricature artist.  Registrants will be asked for proper ID and will be able to register for the 'Best Zombie' competition; those entering in the competition will receive a number that must be placed in a visible area for the Zombie Judges to see.

Best Zombie Bride
Best Zombie YSU Student
Best Zombie Celebrity
Best Zombie Kid
Best Zombie Mayor Jay Williams

Between 6:30 and 6:45 participating Zombies will get ready to crawl' over the Mahoning Avenue bridge (Mr. Peanut bridge) and invade Downtown Youngstown. Zombies will walk in character to Central Square. At 7pm Zombies will arrive at Central Square and will be greeted by the Thrill the World dancers. Thrill the World will be participating in a world wide Guinness Book of World Records dance of the late Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

YSU Humans vs. Zombie will also be set up in Central Square for a demonstration and registration for Youngstown State Universities first ever Humans vs. Zombies game. www.facebook.com/group/YSUhumansvZombies

Winners for the Best Zombie competition will be announced after the Thrill the World dance in Central Square. Best Zombie Judges include: Channel 33 WYTV Reporter Greta Mittereder, Mayor Jay Williams and Channel 27 WKBN Reporter Jennifer Jefcoat. All winners will receive PRIZES! After the winners are announced Zombies will receive a FREE Zombie ID card that will entitle them to drink and food specials at 13 Downtown Youngstown venues the ID card will also serve as a buss pass. CCS Transit of Youngstown will provide a 55 passenger Zombie bus to drive Zombies from venue to venue if wanted.


Organizers of Zombie Crawl 2010 are excited that the event is returning this year to Downtown Youngstown. Last year kicked off a great event that attracted roughly 350 people, students and families in the community. This year, organizers believe that the number of Zombies may double; extra money was spent on radio media and promotional commercials for You Tube and Face Book:
