OHIO PREMIER of Akron's documentary filmmaker Mari-Lynn Evans' Coal Country
The Akron Civic Theater
Free and open to the public
Saturday, September 12, 2009
8:00 P.M.

A film that will change the way you see the relationship between government, the moneyed interest who influence and profit from policy, and the people caught in the middle. Cannot be missed!

Join actress Darryl Hannah, county music singer Kathy Mattea, whose songs are featured in the movie, homegrown activist Elisa Young, featured in the film, invited guest Robert Kennedy, Jr., who has said that the politicians who have allowed Mountain-Top Removal to be endorsing criminal behavior {while} destroying their state," and Akron's own filmmaker, Executive Producer of Coal Country, Mari-Lynn Evans. A must see film that will make you ask the old union chant, "Which side are you on?"

Presented by Progressive Democrats of America—Ohio and the Portage Trail Sierra Club, Coal Country, a finalist in the prestigious Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, is one of three films in the "Best Conservation Program" category. This film will no doubt inform Americans of the extreme nature of this quest for cheap energy and the consequences it has for one of our nation's poorest regions.
